SELF CARE Tipp no. 2
There is nothing more delicious and relaxing than a bit of Me-time. And as we are all transitioning into winter, I really enjoy taking alkaline, salt baths. At the moment I am enjoying my bath ritual with "Complete Release" a gem stone enriched, all natural salt bath by Rock-on. Naturally a candle shouldn't be missing (here I use a delicious candle by Woodlot, that was given to me as a birthday present by a dear friend).
For an alkaline salt bath to work, it is important to stay at least 30-40 min in the bath. I like to add the following "Detoxification mudra". For this: Place each thumb on the inner edge of the third joint of your ring finger. Do this with each hand.
After the bath I want to be sure to only use high quality lotions to hydrate my skin. The all organic, and 100% fair-trade Orange-Lavender body lotion by Dr. Bronner is ideal for that purpose. The texture isn't too rich, buy nicly hydrating and the smell is deeply relaxing and really delicious!
Ohh and did you know?
Bathing in salt is nothing new: "Different kinds of salts, their uses, and methods of extraction were studied in China around 2700 years BCE. Hippocrates encouraged his fellow healers to use salt water for the treatment of various ailments by immersing patients in seawater. Ancient Greeks continued this practice."
Also, the benefits of salt water baths are known to be the following:
- Ease stress and improves sleep and concentration
- Help muscles and nerves function
- Regulate activity of enzymes
- Help muscles and nerves function properly
- Improve oxygen use
- Flush toxins
- Improve absorption of nutrients
- Help form joint proteins, brain tissue and mucin proteins
- Help prevent or ease migraine headaches
